Obaland Awards postponed for stadium renovation

The Obaland Awards which was billed to hold on the 11th of May 2018 has been postponed as a result of ongoing renovation works at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, the proposed venue for the event.

Obaland Academy had on 23rd February 2018 announced honorees of the prestigious Obaland Royal Awards 2018 maiden edition which was also supposed to coincide with the celebration Bob Marley’s day.

But after consulting with appropriate authorities in charge of the venue, it was made clear to the Obaland Academy committee only last week Friday that work was still ongoing in stadium and it will not be available on the planned date.

Obaland Award also known as Africa Grammy recognizes persons with positive impacts in their various fields. The eldest member of the Obaland Academy committee Priest Isèrienrien Osadebavbèn extended his sincere apology to the general public, about the recent chaos caused by this update to all awardees, promising that the entire renovation work will be completed by October, 2018 according to reports from the engineer incharge.

Obaland Award also known as Africa Grammy, monarchs national honour which was founded in 17th December 1993 by 45 traditional rulers in Benin city, Edo state, Nigeria promotes Benin cultural heritage and persons with positive impacts in their various fields. It will be launched officially in 2018 after electing new leadership and updating the memorandum of the Academy.
