Cleric preaches good governance as Christians celebrate Easter

Rev. Father Jude Nwigwe of Our Lady Queen of Nigeria Pro-Cathedral, Abuja, has urged governments at all levels to provide good governance to citizens and deliver dividends of democracy to the people as the world celebrate Easter.

Nwigwe made the call in an interview in Abuja on Saturday.

He said Easter was a day that brought the Lenten season to an end and urged government to provide basic amenities to citizen to better their lot.

The cleric said Easter was celebrated to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead which was the basis of the Christian faith, adding that “throughout the period of lent, we have been making some observances; praying, fasting, alms giving and avoided many things.

“The summary of it is getting closer to God and being holy so that we can partake in Jesus’s glorious resurrection.

“Easter is an assurance of victory for all Christians,” Nwigwe said.

He also commented on the 2019 general elections, saying politicians should play the game by the rule.

He said “I want to call on politicians to respect the votes of the electorate, while citizens should desist from politicians who think they can buy votes through ‘stomach infrastructure.” (NAN)
