Andersons Pharmaceuticals Limited, an indigenous drugs importation and marketing company has launched ‘Tropicana Slim’, a 3-in-1 sugar free coffee drink.
Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Bright Edom said that Nigerians like to take coffee in order to stay mentally alert hence the need for Tropicana slim sugar free coffee containing Stevia, a natural sweetener.
Edom said, “Statistics have shown that out of every ten Nigerian, about three are diabetic, a situation majorly caused by high intake of sugar.
“There are several coffee drink in Nigeria most of which comes in a combination of coffee, creamer (milk) and sugar, Tropicana slim has come to revolutionize the way coffee is consumed in Nigeria by not only making it more appealing in taste and aroma but also offering more healthy choice.”
While noting that Tropicana coffee drink is affordable for all, Edom said that the younger ones within 0-6 age bracket should avoid coffee intake because of the presence of caffeine.
Speaking at the launch, Ms Layo Omodudu, Dietician, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, noted that Tropicana coffee drink is a welcoming development as there are several nutritional benefits attached to coffee.
She said “Coffee has a lot of nutritional benefits and is number one source of antioxidants which helps to fight cell damages. Some of the nutritional benefits include vitamin E, magnesium which regulates the nervous system, potassium, and caffeine which produces an anti- oxidant which fights damages caused by oxidants. Coffee also helps to improve mental alertness and is good for diabetic patients.”
